
The “camera doesn’t lie.” It’s an oft quoted mantra, but as long ago as 1977, the writer Susan Sontag wrote in her book “On Photography”, that photographers decide what to shoot, what elements to exclude, what angle to use and how the photograph is framed and cropped… Therefore, she argued, photography is in fact a subjective form of representation. Like most veteran photographers, the years spent honing my craft has encouraged me to think about photography and formulate my own disparate opinions, a selection of of which can be seen below…
