Evening Zumba

A little over 3000 kilometres south of Dunmore East, featured in yesterday’s post is the Andalucian seaside town of Torrox Costa, where the “Balcon de Torrox“, looks out to the sea.

Its transparent flooring also looks down on the two millennia old Roman necropolis unearthed beneath, somewhat ignored bu the two 21st century young ladies demonstrate their Zumba moves against the backdrop of the Mediterranean.

Zumba was created in the 1990s by dancer and choreographer Alberto Pérez, an aerobics instructor who forgot to bring his regular music to his aerobics class in Colombia. He happened to have cassette tapes of Latin dance music with him so his students danced to them instead. The rest is history and there’s now some 14 million Zumba students in 186 countries.

As I’ve often said, the best camera is the one you have with you. On this particular evening all I had was my smart-phone. The final result is not one that could be described as accurate reportage in any way, but the combination of three different images hopefully illustrates the couple’s athleticism and fun.

So to paraphrase Ansel Adams “it’s about ‘making’ rather than ‘taking’ photographs”…
